Gen. G.K. Warren found Little
Round Top without any troops. He called for the immediate dispatch of
the Fifth Corps. up to the hill. The hill was apparently vacated by
Gen. Dan Sickles who moved his
whole Third Corps. forward down the hill into the Peach Orchard and
Wheatfield. That maneuver has been subject of much debate. Gen.
Sickles actually testified to a Congressional Committee against
Gen. Meade on this event. It is
also my special study project.
