Meade's Break Through

---

Almost, but no luck

. General George Meade spearheaded the attack. His and Gibbon's men broke the center of Jackson's line. He needed reinforcements to complete the task. Gen. David Birney delayed sending his men in. That gave the Confederates enough time to counter-attack the Union and drive them back. Meade lost over 1,800 men and Gibbon lost over 1,200 men.

The Pyramid marks the area that Meade Union broke the Confederate line.
